Watercoloring a large image

Hello everyone :)

Today I'd like to share this card using a HUGE image:

I'm happy to share this card as a

When I picked this stamp (Penny Black 40-429 Fab Friend) I knew it was totally different from the style that I usually tend to use but I think leaving your comfort zones in the best way to learn, grown and stretch your creativity. So I picked this super large image with two precious ladies :)
I thought it would be perfect for watercoloring, SO I pulled out my Schmincke watercolors (I really need practice!) and took my time to color. It was like meditation and I enjoyed it a lot!

I didn't wat to add a stamped sentiment that would interfere with the image, so I pulled out my hello die (Penny Black 51-104 Hello), cut it from the colored panel and carefull adhered it with some foam tape, to make it show up.

Everything else is pretty obvious :)

The card felt kind of unbalanced at first. I was colored nicely, has some sequins, an interesting layout, but it just felt incomplete. I then adhered that small panner from some patterned paper in a matching color and this little pice of paper really had a big impact. It pulled everything together and balanced the card. Sometimes it's worth to just add a super small element!

Hope you like the card - I think it turned out pretty cool, even if this is not my go-to-style :)

Penny Black Images + Zig Clean Color = LOVE

Sending a sunny hello your way! :)

Hope you're enjoying your week-end - may it be with 4th of July celebrations, with the super hot German weather or whatever you're doing this week-end :)
We're having some thunderstorms today and I enjoy them. I love summer, I love hot weather a lot - still, being refreshed by rain and a breeze is fantastic :)

Time to show you my newest crafty project. I can't stop raving about the Zig Clean Color real brush markers - I love them so much (and always have them with me! Lettering on the train is awesome and I'll soon share more of it with you). Penny Black images are perfect for coloring so I decided to combine both for my Simplicity Sister Post this month.

I usually don't use lots of cute people stamps, but I wanted to see if I'd be able to color them - I think it really turned out okay. And the combo with the large flowers might be unusual but eye-catching, don't you think?

  • stamp the girl image with Versafine Ink
  • afterwards stamp the flowers surrounding the girl to kind of frame it
  • find a nice placement for your sentiment, keeping the balance of the card
  • Use your Zig Clean Color Real brush markers and add just a bit of color into the corners of each area.
  • spread out the color with a waterbrush or a wet paint brush
  • add darker shades and shadows where you'd like them

Stamps: Penny Black (Happy Days, Dahlias, Cool Chicks )
Cardstock: Exacompta Cardfile
Ink: Versafine (Onyx Black)
Coloring: Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens (48 pack)

Thanks for stoppin' by - hope this was somehow inspirational :)

Das doppelte Lottchen #133

It's sunday, that means it's Lottie and Lisa time!

That means Anni and I usually pick a stamp or stamp that that we both have (we nearly have the same taste!) and create a card with this set and another task.
Today Anni made a wish, and it is:

Stampin' Up - Loads of Love
&
Yellow, orange and pink

Well, I was late (drawing new stamp sets at the moment - yay) and wanted to make something pretty quick - and this card is none of my best ones, but I'm okay with it. I did some super quick water coloring on the embossed image and used the new Stacked Pierced Banner Dies from Create A Smile (I guess you know that feeling when you got new supplies and you want to use them all of the time?)
This is my final card:

There's just a tiny amount of orange, but it's there - I promise! Maybe you still like the card, even if it's just a quick imperfect one.

Now it's time to hop over to Anni's blog to see what she created.

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

Finally - a new video :)

Happy new year!

Hope you all had a good start to 2015 - i dure did. (We had a friend with us, played games (Carcassonne) and ate Raclette (is that a internationally known thing? I have no idea...). It was wonderful.
Well, I'll never be a fa of fireworks, I think they're useless and mean to all the poor creatures outside, but dispite that I really enjoyed the night.

I also made a video that I finished this morning - so I can finally share anotehr video with you. (I feel bad I am not able to make a video for each tuesday at the moment... boo!)

I created this male Valentine's card:

I had not made a watercolor card for quite a while now and thought they would make a nice background for the large chipboard letters. I badly wanted to use those ;)

Stamps: Create A Smile - Balance

Chipboards: Create A Smile - Alphabet

Die: Simon Says Stamp Circ e Border
Embossing Powder: Wow Clear Gloss ultra fine, Hero Arts white
Ink: Versamark

  • Using the blending tool with Versamark ink adds more options to partial heat-embossing.
  • A regularly patterned washi tape makes it easy to mask off the edges correctly and even
  • Add layers of watercolor to control the amount of color
  • use your heat gut to move the watercolor on your paper

Hope you enjoyed the video - maybe I'll have another one on sunday.. I'll try ;)
Stay tunes and follow the Create A Smile Blog to see all the fun things coming up this year. The new release is coming up NEXT WEEK!.. Woohoo!

Stencil Sunday #3 - watercolor on stencils

Hi there,

I'm over on the Create A Smile Stamps Blog today with a new Stencil Sunday video. This week I'm talking about watercolor and stencils... Because it works - if you use spray adhesive on your stencils.

I used the Swirly Stencil and the Jungle Fever Stamp Set. You can find more Details (e.g. the Copic colors) on the CAS blog.

Here's another example for that technique:

Hier ist noch ein anderes Beispiel für diese Technik:

Das doppelte Lottchen #111

It's Lottie and Lisa time!

That means Anni and I usually pick a stamp or stamp that that we both have (we nearly have the same taste!) and create a card with this set and another task.

Today I made a wish, and it is:

and

Sequins

This is a pretty simple but colorful card: I stamped the umbrella from Comfy, colored it with Distress Markers and added a rainbow of sequins. The sentiment is from Für alle Fälle and means "Age? Inestimable"

Now hop over to Anni's Blog to see what she came up with!
