Das doppelte Lottchen #177 & new CAS release!

Hello everyone,

Here we are with a new Lottie and Lisa - yay! Still January and my second blog post already - wow... (hehe, you guess, I am a busy bee...)

For those new on my blog:

Lottie and Lisa means Anni and I usually pick a stamp or stamp set or die that we both have (we nearly have the same taste!) and create a card with this product and another task.

For today I made a wish, and it is:

Paper Piecing

I guess we all experience those moments when we fall in love again with a technique that we used to love years ago. Paper Piecing is something I re-discovered for me, lately. I just love the look - patterns everywhere.

I decided to use some of the newest Create A Smile products - the new release came out last friday. You can check all the new products out and see some inspirational projects here. Let's get to my Lottie and Lisa card first :)

With the dies it was crystal clear that the theme would be ocean, so I created a background with my oxide inks (Peacock feathers, salty ocean, wilted violet). I paper pieced the vampire squid from Glowing Seaside / Strahlende Küste, die cut the "du" with the new "doppeltes du" cool cuts and added a small handwritten sentiment. The sentiment says "you are unique".

I also have some more cards to share with you, using the newly released products:

This coffee-themes card uses an older stamp set (just like coffee / so wie Kaffee) and an older die set (Stacked pierced banners) with two brand new products: The "Huge polka Dots" stencil and the "you twice" cool cuts.

Here's a super clean and simple card, using the unfrogettable / sei kein Frosch stamp set, the new postage edge circles cool cuts, the doppeltes hallo cool cuts and the Nur mal hallo sagen stamp set:

The last card is very clean and simple also, using the doppeltes du dies, the postage edge circle dies and the new Focal Dots stencil.

You might notice that we took a short break from our Lottie & Lisa fun - we've both been super busy, but now we're BACK - yay!

I remember that I had s great design on my mind when I wrote down today's challenge - but as always I forgot and I felt like I couldn't create something super unique. 

Question: Do you have phases when it comes to crafting?

Sometimes I fall for background stamps, two weeks later I can't come up with ANY idea using them. Sometimes I love to use patterned paper and sometimes I don't touch them for weeks. Sometimes I love to watercolor, sometimes I'm like "Meh, it looks all the same!".

Those phases keep me struggling, but I am happy I am not completely stuck with one technique only - my phases change and so do my designs - that's fun.

However, I did not feel like using background stamps when I made my first card and I found it boring, even if the rainbow of colors pop:

The card is okay, but I still found it boring.

Then I remember a card Anni made years ago for one Lottie and Lisa and I decided to somewhat CASE it. :)

I loved that she cut down her background into strips to add dimension and interest to her card, so I tried that;

I think this turned out quite cute and I am so happy there are so many inspiring creations out there whenever i feel uninspired. 

(Fun Fact: I hadn't looked at Anni's card again before I made mine. Her's is from November 2012 and still my card looks like a super close CASE. Anni's designs have always been my fav and I studied her art in a way that makes me remember cards even after 3,5 years - hehe!)

Oh, by the way: The sentiment on this card says "Hug?"

Ma card came together pretty quick and is super simple :)

At the moment I am in love with all my lion-stamps. I love lions - especially the cute kind. So I knew i would use the lion from that set and keep a lion-y color scheme.

That new Create A Smile die (coming soon!) says "congratulations", so it's perfect for a birthday or other occasions.

I knew that I'd had to be a background with a BANG (because it's more lion-y, you know?), so I used my splatter stencil and blended with yellow and brown ink. I also flicked on some ink for even more bang.

That little black strip is just to ground the lion. He needed something to be placed on, otherwise he would have looked so lost.

Today Ii made a wish, and it is:

Hero Arts - Woodgrain Backround

&

Rainbow

I am a sucker for everything rainbow AND woodgrain, so I thought combining both would be cool. I kept my card super simple:

 

• I white heat embossed the woodgrain pattern onto a large piece of cardstock
• I inked it up with Distress Stains (picked raspberry, barn door, spiced marmelade, squeezed lemonade, twisted citron, broken china, peacock feathers - the purple is a mixture of peacock feathers and picked raspberry, because I had no purple Distress Stain dauber).
• I cut the feather shapes with my Silhouette
• I die cut the sentiment (My Favorite Things) from black cardstock.
• I assembled the card and added glossy accents to the die-cut sentiment
• A few enamel dot bring the card together.

This is super simple and a pretty clean card, but with all it's brightness, I don't think it needed anything else.

Hier einigen die wunderbare Anni und ich uns üblicherweise auf einen Stempel oder ein Stempelset , dass wir beide besitzen und gestalten (unser Geschmack ist sehr ähnlich!) mit diesem und einer Zusatzaufgabe eine Karte.

I did a lot of Paper Piecing and used the Simon Says Stamp happy word die (love that one!). I stamped the pandas with Versafine (because it's the best black ink of all times and get crisp black results) and added a bit of shading with my Polychromos in warm grey.

Ich habe viel Paper Piecing gemacht und die Happy Stanze von Simon Says Stamp benutzt (die liebe ich!) Die Pandas habe ich mit Versafine gestempelt (weil das die beste schwarze Tinte aller Zeiten ist und ein knackig-schwarzes Ergebnis bringt) und habe ein Paar Schattierungen mit meinen Polychromos in warm grau hinzu gefügt.

Es ist wieder Lottchenzeit!
Hier einigen die wunderbare Anni und ich uns üblicherweise auf einen Stempel oder ein Stempelset , dass wir beide besitzen und gestalten (unser Geschmack ist sehr ähnlich!) mit diesem und einer Zusatzaufgabe eine Karte. 

Ich durfte wünschen, und heraus kam:

Mama Elephant - Up & Away

keine Karte

This is what I came up with:

I cut out the shape for this star-pillowbox with my Silhouette from some Alison Kreft 12x12" paper that I though would go well with the "up & Away" Theme. I colored the little monkey and balloons in colors close to the paper (+ the neutral from that monkey) and covered the balloons with glossy accents. to add more interest. The sentiment ("Congrats") was created with Elle's Studio Alphabet stickers in warm grey.

Another detail is the red-and-white ribbon that I added to make opening the box even easier and you don't have do look for the open fold.

Und das kam bei mir dabei heraus:

Die Form für die sternförmige Pillowbox habe ich mit meiner Silhouete aus gemustertem 12x12" Papier von Alison Kreft geschnitten, das für mich gut zum Thema "Up and Away" passte. Die Ballons und den Affen habe ich dann mit den Farben des Papier + dem neutralen warmgrau des Affen koloriert und habe die Ballons für etwas mehr Interesse mit Glossy Accents überzogen. Den Text habe ich mit Elle's Studio Alphabet Stickern in warmgrau aufgeklebt.

Ein weiteres Detail ist das rot-weiße Ribbon, das ich hinzugefügt habe, damit die Box noch leichter aufgeht und man nicht nach dem offenen Knick suchen muss.

I really love how this turned out and try to think of someone who'll get a little gift soon. (Maybe some sweets. But I need a reason for the congrats, haha!)

Ich freue mich wirklich, was daraus geworden ist und überlege jetzt die ganze Zeit, wem ich bald ein kleine Geschenk geben kann.

(Vielleicht Süßigkeiten? Aber ich brauche auch einen Grund für den Glückwunsch!

Video for ABNH: Combining supplies of one theme

Hey there!
Wow, the week end is over again - that was - as always - way to quick.

Today it's my turn to bring some inspiration to you over at A Blog Named Hero. This month we're playing with some Mama Elephant stamps (plus Hero Arts, of course!). Mama Elephand makes the cutest stamps, make sure to check them out. AND they're giving away a prize for this months Challenge at ABNH, so be sure to play along! ;) (You gat all the info on A Blog Named Hero.)

So, what inspiration could I bring to you? That's the question I ask myself each and every month. I kept it simple this time: Combining supplies is something I do all the time, so I thought about making a simple card with the focus on theme. Well, it's all about stars:

Mint again - I am so sorry ;) Does it get boring? Well, I just love it (obviously!). 

Having a simple technique keeps that card clean although we used 3 stamps/stamp sets and embellishments. And having it all focus on one theme makes it go together, not distracting from each other. (You could also combine with focus on shape, color, paper pad,... by theme is only one possibility.

What do you go for when you create a card? Or do you have many ways to get your cards together? I'd really love to know :)

I {heart} mint

Good morning!
You all know I love aqua, , turquoise, mint... all that yummy stuff that seems to make every card beautiful - hehe :)
So today I'd like to share two cards that are mainly mint. I got some new Hero Arts goodies yesterday, so i had to try them out. The Mama Elephant card has been waiting on my desk for a while now - I don't think I've showed it before?!?

Ihr alle wisst dass ich Aqua, Türkis und Mint liebe .. all diese wunderbaren Farben, die scheinbar jede Karte schön aussehen lassen - hehe :)
Also habe ich heute zwei Karten für Euch, die in erster Linie mint sind. Ich hab gestern ein paar neue Hero Arts Sachen gekriegt, die ich ausprobieren musste. Die Mama Elephant Karte liegt schon länger auf meinem Schreibtisch, aber ich glaube nicht, dass ich sie schon gezeigt habe?!?
