I'm back from a super exciting trip. On Monday I took the train to Berlin - to meet my muse, friend and crafting-idol Anni from Annikarten and my sweet crafting friend Birka from Mit Herz und Schere - both for the very first time.
I'll keep this story short. We had a WONDERFUL time, those girls are super lovely and we talked, crafted and laughed a lot (well, and did a teeny tiny bit of shopping, haha).
I guess my favorite time was crafting together, so let's focus on that part.
1) We got spoiled with wonderful snacks - a perfect start for crafting (and they even look so good).
2) Crafting together and all that chit-chat on colors, products, trends, techniques, papers (yes, we talked a lot about that part) was so much fun. Everyone had a completely different way to start off and we all had a different tempo (haha...!)
When I first met Anni on the internet 5 years ago I would never have dreamt of sitting next to her crafting (and being on the same photo with her - woohoo!). It was a pleasure, but everything felt so natural like we all knew each other for ages. Birka and I talked a lot - we're similar kinds of girls (but she likes pink a lot - I just ...don't. No. Not at all. Sorry Börki!)
3) Birka and I spent a lot of time browsing through Anni's stash - with lot's of "ooooh!" and "aaaaaah! "and "Ohmygosh, I need this!"-kind of conversations.
So of course - we crated a mess. A huge pile of mess. And some cards as well.
The next day we went shopping and had a wonderful BBQ at Birka's house. (More spoiling - yay!)
Let's just say I went a bit overboard when we went shopping. We don't have a single stamping or papercrafting store where I live and most of our crafty stores don't offer cute products... So I had to take the chance, right?
We had such a great time that we stayed with Birka until past midnight before we said goodbye.
Thanks girl for everything you did, for your warm welcome, all the fun and heartiness - you rock! And I'll be back!
So let me share my cards now. I like most of them a lot - crafting together (and with new products) really sparked my mojo. Before you look at the cards: You can find more photos and Birka's version of that story HERE:
This was just a very simple card to keep my mojo going. I used some of Birka's dies for this one.
2) Cool Day
You gotta LOVE the new MFT Penguins - I just couldn't resist. Anni is the Polychromos and Prismacolor-coloring expert so I thought I'd try that with her direct advice. I never used Prismacolors before - but I am happy with the result (even if Anni's coloring is WAY smoother. Now that I know how much time she takes for coloring with pencils I am happy with that :) )
3) Happy Birthday Bear
Lime and Aqua is one of my favorite color combos, so I made another card using these in a different way. I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens for the coloring. Quick and easy :)
When I card the cardstock for the cardbase the Blase was a lottle dull. So I destressed all the other edges as well - I like that effect!
4) A male birthday card
ZIg Real Color again - but super intense and bright this time. The muted background (using up some of Anni's paper scraps) makes the lion (I neeeed that Reverse Confetti set. Excuse me? These are the cutest lions I have ever seen!) pop and keeps the card simple at the same time.
5) Hip Hip Hurra!
That irritaed looking bear is so cute, I had to use it! And the left-over frame lying around was the perfect way to bring that card together.
The Paper players - CAS including Frames
6) Los, ausflippen (Come on, freak out!)
This is my favorite card that I created that day. That super cute lion and the paper scraps with that retro-feel are such a perfect combination. Puffy heart love this! I need to use more oval shapes in the future (I'll actually precut some with my silhouette after i finished this post!)
Stampin' Royalty - Keep it Simple
Stamping sensations - Feature a Creature
Kreativzeit - Tiere an Land
So, that was me in Berlin.
What a fabulous way to start off my holidays. Thank you girls, for all the fun, the gifts and a great time!

Wow, it looks like you ladies had a fantastic time, how great to meet up. Love your little haul from the craft store, there are none where I live so I rely on very rare craft shows or online. I adore your penguin card, you'd never know you haven't used Prismacolours before, and the little lion with the paper scraps is adorable. Thanks so much for sharing at ATSM this week, Anita x
ReplyDeleteSooo viele megatolle Karten!
